Buying an air conditioner in the Philippines is part product research, part install planning. Heat, humidity, condo rules, and electricity rates all change what “best” means for your household.
Step 1 — Measure the job, not the brand
Estimate room floor area (sqm), ceiling height, sun exposure, and how many hours you run cooling daily. Undersized units never catch up; oversized fixed-speed units short-cycle and feel clammy.
Rule of thumb for bedrooms (not a substitute for a proper load estimate):
- About 0.75–1.0 HP for small rooms (~10–14 sqm)
- About 1.0–1.5 HP for typical bedrooms (~14–20 sqm)
- Higher for west-facing glass or poorly insulated spaces
Step 2 — Choose the format
Window type — Lowest friction for existing sleeves and budget installs. Louder indoors than splits.

Ask about:
- Installation labor and materials (brackets, piping, breaker)
- Delivery, haul-up, and old-unit pull-out fees
- Warranty years for compressor vs parts/labor
